Pathways to Success (GPS) is proud to present its July STEMstar, Cole Vanderpohl! A graduate of Greensburg High School and is now a junior at Hanover College, Cole has spent his summer working as an intern with the Ripley County Community Foundation and GPS.
“Cole’s work with GPS has made a significant impact on our work this summer,” said Cheryll Obendorf, GPS director. “On his first day, he confidently tackled a daunting task of setting up iPads for East Indiana Area Health Education Center’s Medical Scholars camps and Raspberry Pi’s for Cyber Camp 101. His expertise at Cyber Camp literally saved the day for us, and we are very thankful to Lilly Endowment Inc. for the funding we received to employ Cole over the summer.”
Vanderpohl is studying computer science and physics at Hanover College where he is secretary for the diversity club on campus. He is also a Hanover College senate representative and a resident assistant. Upon graduation, Vanderpohl plans to enter the workforce for two years before starting work on his master’s degree and his doctorate degree programs. “Everyone should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential,” said Cole. “It’s important that we continue to teach the generation of tomorrow, and I am happy to lend my humble service.”
