A consortium of Batesville employers including Batesville Casket Company, Batesville Tool & Die, Wood-Mizer and Heartwood Manufacturing has been nominated for the prestigious Indiana INTERNnet IMPACT Award in the category of Employer of the Year for its outstanding internship program with high school students. Winners will be announced at the 11th Annual IMPACT Awards luncheon scheduled for February 8, 2017 in Indianapolis.
Genesis: Pathways to Success (GPS) nominated these four employers to recognize their outstanding contribution to the Batesville co-op program.
“The Batesville co-op program is being recognized as a model of excellence in workforce development in the state of Indiana, and it was an honor to nominate the employers involved for this award,” said Cheryll Obendorf, executive director of GPS. “Everyone involved in this program has worked very hard to make it a success, and it definitely deserves recognition for its quality and ongoing progress.”
The IMPACT Awards luncheon, sponsored by Ivy Tech Community College, emphasizes the importance of internships and honors those who make those experiences meaningful. The keynote speaker for the luncheon is Tamika Catchings, four-time Olympic gold medalist and WNBA All-Star, who will speak about the knowledge and experience she gained while interning with the National Basketball Association. Gerry Dick, Grow Indiana Media Ventures, will serve as master of ceremonies for the luncheon.
