Ripley County, Indiana – The Ripley County Community Foundation (RCCF) announced on October 17 that its STEM initiative, formerly known as Ripley County EcO15 will now be know as Genesis: Pathways to Success (GPS).
“Genesis empowers students to succeed in STEM by developing programs in areas such as engineering, agriculture, health, science and technology,” said Cheryll Obendorf, executive director of GPS.
Along with the new name, a new logo has been designed. The leaf and the circuit board in this logo design pair together to represent the connection between growth and technology – the core elements of STEM. The new logo signifies the growth of how Genesis will be the seed from which the net generation of innovators flourishes, an it pairs with technology as it continues to pervade every part of human life.
“The new name and logo allow others to recognize the STEM efforts of Ripley Count and surrounding areas benefiting students, employers and the community as a whole.
Although the branding has changed, CPS will offer many of the same programs offered through EcO15 such as the annual Rube Goldberg Machine Contest and Nine13 Sports. GPS events encourage students to apply curious minds and critical thinking skills to real-world opportunities.
GPS generates ongoing and meaningful dialog and collaboration between students and employers to prepare Southeast Indiana’s students for a globally dynamic marketplace. These efforts, along with the new branding, will help Ripley County grow and sustain its STEM talent pool.
“The new branding allows our programs to be localized to Ripley County and the surround areas, sustaining the talent that is already present in our community, ” Obendorf said.
