Wreaths Across Ripley County

The Ripley County Community Foundation launches the Wreaths Across America – Ripley County initiative and adopts the mission of the National Wreaths Across America organization to: Remember those U.S. veterans who have fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the value of freedom to our children.

Wreaths Across America started as a simple gesture of thanks that has grown into a national movement of dedicated volunteers and communities coming together to not only remember the nation’s fallen and honor their service, but to teach the next generation about the sacrifices made for us to live freely. This year, the Ripley County Community Foundation hopes to honor the 4,000 veterans laid to rest in Ripley County by placing a wreath on each veteran’s grave on National Wreaths Across America Day – Saturday, December 17, 2022. “Working with the Wreaths Across America Program allows our organization an unique opportunity to show our appreciation for the sacrifices our family, friends, and neighbors made to protect our freedom,” stated Amy Streator, Executive Director of the Ripley County Community Foundation.  Streator further noted, “Wreaths Across Ripley County is just one way that the community foundation is able to connect willing donors with a cause that unifies us as a community.” “If the Wreaths Across Ripley County initiative meets its goal to raise $60,000, the Ripley County Community Foundation will establish a permanent fund which will ensure that the individuals who served to protect the freedoms of our country are never forgotten,” stated Streator. If you are interested in supporting Wreaths Across Ripley County, or want to honor a service member in your life, the Community Foundation is accepting donations.
