Maurice & Mary Ann Hartman Endowment for Ripley County 4-H Established

We are honored to announce the establishment of the Maurice & Mary Ann Hartman Endowment for Ripley County 4-H, which will foster leadership skills in its members.  Mary Ann established this endowment in memory of her husband, Maurice, with the intention of offseting the cost to Ripley County 4-H members to attend the State Junior Leadership Conference, 4-H Roundup Trip, and other trips.

Maurice and Mary Ann dedicated their lives in furtherance of 4-H’s (head-heart-hands-health) mission to promote positive youth development, facilitate learning and engage youth in the work of their community through the Cooperative Extension Service to enhance the quality of life. Maurice found great joy in his 55 years of service as a Ripley County 4-H Leader. He contributed greatly to local agricultural research through Doane’s research.  He was a member of the Ripley County Extension Board and 4-H Fair Board for many years as well as the Area I P-Caret representative. He also served as the Farm Bureau Representative for Adams Township for 25 years where he made many good friends.

“I created this fund to ensure that Maurice’s love and gratitude for 4-H would continue to be felt in Ripley County for generations. I hope that Maurice’s life-long generosity will inspire the many individuals who were once a member of his 4-H Club, to give back to their communities in a way that will leave the world a better place,” stated Mary Ann Hartman.
