The Ripley County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that its former intern, Delyla Wonnell, has been selected to serve as the Ripley County Ambassador through Ball State University’s County Ambassador Program. Wonnell, a senior at Ball State University and graduate of Batesville High School, will represent Ripley County on campus while promoting the community as a place to live, work, and thrive after graduation.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as the Ripley County Ambassador at Ball State,” Delyla said. “Ripley County is full of rich history, unique characteristics, and exciting opportunities for the future. I am look forward to sharing with others what makes our community such an exceptional place to build a life and a career.”
Launched in 2023, Ball State University’s County Ambassador Program connects students with their home community across Indiana. As a County Ambassador, Wonnell will receive professional development training and learn how to communicate the value of Indiana communities. She will work closely with local leaders and organizations to showcase Ripley County’s assets, including career opportunities, recreational amenities, cultural attractions, and quality of place initiatives.
“The County Ambassador Program empowers students to become champions for the places they call home,” said Chrystal Pearson, Associate Director for Industry Engagement at Ball State University. “By sharing their personal experiences and highlighting the strengths of their communities, ambassadors help their peers discover the many opportunities available throughout Indiana. We are thrilled to welcome Delyla to the program and look forward to seeing her represent Ripley County both on campus and beyond.”
Throughout the academic year, Wonnell will engage with fellow Ball State students, participate in ambassador training programs, create social media content, and promote the opportunities that make Ripley County an exceptional place to build a career and a life.
“We are incredibly proud of Delyla and excited to see her represent Ripley County through this innovative program,” said Amy Streator, Executive Director of the Ripley County Community Foundation. “As an intern, Delyla consistently demonstrated enthusiasm for our community and a genuine commitment to making a difference. Her selection as a County Ambassador reflects the leadership, curiosity, and hometown pride that will serve her well as she shares the story of Ripley County with students across Ball State University.”
The Ripley County Community Foundation looks forward to supporting Delyla as she serves in this role and advocates for our county’s future. Local organizations, businesses, nonprofits, schools, and community groups are encouraged to connect with Delyla throughout the year to share upcoming events, community initiatives, workforce opportunities, and quality-of-life assets that make Ripley County a great place to live, work, and thrive. Partnerships with local organizations will help provide authentic stories and experiences that Delyla can share with fellow Ball State students as she promotes Ripley County on campus and through social media.
