In the month of May, the Ripley County Community Foundation worked alongside Oldenburg Academy (OA) and Milan Elementary students to plant 2 pollinator gardens at each of the two schools. Pollinator gardens are designed to provide pollen and nectar for insects such as bees, butterflies, and ladybugs. Students as young as Kindergarten planted flowers such as Salvia, Shasta Daisy, Purple Cornflowers, Red Rocks, Coreopsis, Achillea Moonshine, and Butterfly Bushes. The OA and Milan Elementary pollinator gardens are only two of a proposed 4, which will additionally be planted in Osgood and Versailles. This project is supported by the generosity of a local company, Enbridge, who donated $10,200 to create a Greener Tomorrow.
